Muskoka or Adirondack chairs
There’s nothing better than relaxing in one of these wooden chairs with a cool beverage, basking in the warmth of the summer sun. Since these chairs are exposed to the elements, we love the idea of giving them a “chippy” look. If you’re deliberately going for an aged and worn look, this style will save you some maintenance as further aging from the elements will only enhance the look – at least for a few summer seasons! We’re all for less work, especially when we’re at the cottage. This makeover from Organized Clutter is very charming:
Metal and wicker conversation set
Outdoor furniture is a great opportunity to go for bright, bold colors you might be afraid to use in your home. Even metal furniture can be painted and given a whole new look. These metal chairs and table, refinished by Serendipity Refined, are the perfect bright summer set:
Dining sets
Old wood dining sets can have new life, repurposed for outdoors bbqs and parties. We come across old dining sets all the time that are destined for the landfill. What a fantastic idea to give them a bright coat of paint and use them outdoors. We love this classic set refinished by Fynes Designs in bright colors for use outdoors in the summer:
Picnic tables
Picnic tables don’t have to be boring! Painted up they can certainly liven up your backyard. We have several picnic tables at the cottage we use to accommodate our large extended family at meal times. We’re itching to use some paint to give them some more personality like this multicolor makeover by Little Miss Momma:
Potting bench
A potting bench is not only super handy for all your spring planting but it can be a beautiful backdrop for your outdoor space. This desk, repurposed as a potting bench, by Sarah Joy, the Blog, is stunning and practical:
Planters
Everyone’s got an old wooden chair lying around. It can’t just be us, can it? Anyways, why not turn those old chairs into charming flower planters? This makeover by Four Generations One Roof is simply lovely:
I’m certainly feeling inspired to head outside to brighten up our outdoor space with some painted furniture! Do you have any fun summer furniture makeover ideas? Please share them in the comments below.
